Leading Indian Crypto Exchange is seeking a seasoned and strategic leader to head its Public Policy & Government Affairs function from Delhi. This role will lead the company’s policy engagement and government outreach agenda at a pivotal moment for India’s virtual digital assets and Web3 ecosystem, while serving as a trusted advisor to the CEO on regulatory, reputational, and public affairs strategy.
The role requires a high-credibility policy professional with deep experience in engaging central government stakeholders, regulators, lawmakers, industry bodies, and strategic partners. The successful candidate will shape Company’s external policy strategy, anticipate regulatory developments, support business-critical advocacy priorities, and strengthen the company’s voice in India’s evolving crypto and digital asset policy landscape.
* Lead and execute Company’s overall public policy and government affairs strategy in India, aligned with business priorities, regulatory developments, and long-term market-building objectives. * Advise the CEO and senior leadership team on emerging policy, political, legislative, and reputational developments affecting the virtual digital assets, fintech, and broader digital economy ecosystem. * Build and maintain strong, credible relationships with ministries, regulators, lawmakers, enforcement-linked stakeholders, and relevant public institutions, with a primary focus on Central Government & select state governments. * Drive policy advocacy on issues relevant to Company and the broader sector, including regulatory clarity, tax rationalisation, AML/CFT alignment, innovation enablement, and responsible growth of the VDA ecosystem. * Represent Company in industry bodies, consultations, closed-door roundtables, policy forums, and external stakeholder meetings to advance the company’s priorities and contribute to constructive sector-wide outcomes. * Develop policy positions, briefing notes, consultation submissions, white papers, stakeholder communications, and executive talking points for high-impact engagements. * Partner closely with Legal, Compliance, Communications, Risk, Product, and Business teams to ensure external engagement is accurate, coordinated, and aligned with operational realities. * Monitor and assess developments across Parliament, ministries, regulatory bodies, tax authorities, and global crypto policy trends, translating these into actionable internal recommendations. * Support strategic thought leadership and reputation-building initiatives for the Company and the CEO in coordination with communications and leadership teams. * Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing policy team and external advisor network, with clear operating priorities, stakeholder mapping, and measurable outcomes.
* The ideal candidate is a mature public policy leader who combines regulatory acumen with strong judgment, executive presence, and the ability to operate effectively in a complex and often ambiguous environment. This person should be equally comfortable in government-facing engagement, internal strategic advising, and high-quality policy writing. * The role is best suited for someone who understands how to build trust with government stakeholders over time, frame commercially relevant issues in a public-interest context, and help a high-growth company, navigate scrutiny with credibility and discipline.
You’ll Excel in This Role If You Have
* 18+ years of relevant experience in public policy, government affairs, regulatory strategy, public affairs, or institutional engagement. * Significant experience engaging with central government ministries, lawmakers, regulators, industry associations, and senior external stakeholders in India. * Strong understanding of India’s public policy and regulatory ecosystem, especially in financial services, technology, fintech, digital economy, or emerging technology sectors. * Demonstrated ability to influence policy conversations through strong written advocacy, relationship management, and cross-functional execution. * Prior experience in crypto, fintech, payments, internet platforms, financial services, or a similarly to be regulated / regulated and high-growth sector will be strongly preferred. * Proven ability to work directly with C-suite leadership and manage sensitive issues requiring discretion, sound judgment, and speed. * Experience leading teams, external consultants, or multi-stakeholder initiatives is strongly preferred. * Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in public policy, law, economics, political science, international relations, or business is preferred.
* The company is consistently represented as a credible, constructive, and informed voice in policy discussions relevant to crypto and Web3 in India. * The CEO and leadership team receive timely, high-quality advice on policy developments, stakeholder engagement, and reputational risks. * The company’s policy priorities are clearly articulated in external forums and reflected in stronger stakeholder relationships and better-informed regulatory dialogue. * Internal teams are equipped with actionable policy intelligence that supports business continuity, compliance readiness, and strategic decision-making.
