.Index Governance Data Leader
As the Index Governance Data Leader, you will be accountable for documenting, establishing and overseeing data governance practices across the full Index Data Lifecycle — from data sourcing through calculation, dissemination, and downstream use. Reporting into the Index Governance Team, you will serve as the central coordination point across Index Management, Technology, Operations, Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Product to ensure that data processes, controls, and hand-offs are clearly documented, consistently executed, and transparently reported to senior leadership and governing bodies.
You'll thrive in this role if you bring deep experience in financial services data environments, a strong command of governance and control frameworks, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders and translate complexity into clear, actionable direction.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and evolve the data governance framework across the Index Data Lifecycle, ensuring clear accountability for data assets, processes, and controls across all contributing teams.
- Act as the central coordination point for data governance efforts, facilitating cross-functional working groups to align stakeholders on standards, process improvements, and implementation priorities.
- Design and maintain executive-level governance reporting — including dashboards, summaries, and briefing materials — to provide clear visibility into data controls, issues, and remediation status for senior management and governing bodies.
- Identify data risks, control gaps, and lifecycle dependencies; partner with stakeholders to develop and execute remediation plans with discipline and accountability.
- Lead data governance initiatives and change management efforts, ensuring process or control changes are assessed, approved, documented, and communicated with rigor.
- Support internal audits, regulatory inquiries, and external reviews by providing transparent documentation and clear evidence of data governance practices.
Required Qualifications
- 8–12+ years of experience in financial services, with significant exposure to data governance, data management, or data controls in complex production environments.
- Demonstrated ability to operate across multiple functions and influence stakeholders at all levels without direct authority.
- Proven track record of documenting and operationalizing governance frameworks, process controls, and accountability structures.
- Solid experience leading or supporting project management across cross-functional teams, including managing scope, milestones, and dependencies.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a record of producing executive-level reporting and presentations for senior leadership and governance committees.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in index businesses, market data providers, or regulated financial benchmarks.
- Familiarity with regulatory and industry governance frameworks and their practical application in a financial services setting.
- Experience supporting audits, regulatory reviews, or formal control assessments.
- Demonstrated ability to balance strategic governance objectives with pragmatic, operational execution.
