Head of Talent (Founding)

About the Role

You design and lead a talent function from zero. You own end to end engineering hiring. You source evaluate and close senior engineers through direct outreach. You build an evaluation framework and scorecards. You expand the pipeline and collaborate with stakeholders.

Requirements

• Experience closing senior leadership engineers through direct cold outreach for companies without brand recognition
• Strong network of engineers who respond to outreach and refer others
• Track record of building a hiring function from zero and scaling across engineering domains
• Technical literacy and fluency in English to source write and close candidates
• Experience in startup environments and adaptability to shifting priorities
• Willingness to recruit from non brand companies and operate in a global context
• Presence in Japanese and English speaking engineering communities is a plus
• Former engineer or strong following in an engineering community is a plus

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering hiring end to end through direct sourcing and closing
• Identify and hire senior and leadership engineers for product engineering and financial infrastructure
• Design and implement an in house screening AI and evaluation process
• Create a repeatable recruitment engine with processes scorecards and playbooks
• Develop a referral flywheel and refine the global pipeline for speed and quality
• Handle adjacent hiring in product business and program management as the company scales
• Collaborate with founding leadership to define hiring standards and maintain a high bar
