About the Role
Outrider is hiring an Autonomous Vehicle Safety Driver with a valid Class A CDL and three years of tractor-trailer experience. The role operates autonomous vehicles for 8-10 or more hours per day, performs inspections and preventative maintenance, documents system performance, assists with issue analysis and minor repairs, and supports engineering and operations teams. The position is based in Colorado, includes second-shift work, travel and fieldwork up to 20%, and a two-week paid training program in Brighton, Colorado.
Requirements
- Current Class A Commercial Driver’s License valid in Colorado and other requested U.S. states.
- At least 3 years of verifiable Class A tractor-trailer driving experience.
- Safe and proficient backing skills with multiple trailer types in dynamic yard environments.
- Clean driving record for the past 5 years.
- Availability for day, night, and weekend work, sometimes on short notice.
- Ability to understand autonomous vehicle technology through documentation and collaboration.
- Facility with desktop software and web applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Sterling references.
- Availability to travel to Outrider headquarters in Brighton, Colorado, for a two-week paid training program.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate autonomous vehicles in manual, partial-automation, and full-automation modes.
- Monitor vehicle and driving environments and intervene to maintain safe operating conditions.
- Conduct daily onsite safety inspections of trucks, equipment, and work areas.
- Provide written and verbal reports on vehicle and system performance.
- Perform preventative maintenance checks, hardware installation, and minor repairs.
- Assist commercial, operations, and engineering teams with root-cause analysis.
- Communicate issues and performance observations to dispatchers and engineering teams.
- Follow safety rules, procedures, and required personal protective equipment standards.
- Travel and perform fieldwork based on customer location, up to 20%.
