About the Role
You will administer employee benefits and process semi-monthly payroll accurately and on time. You will maintain payroll records, reconcile accounts, manage vendors, support onboarding and offboarding, maintain HRIS data, prepare compliance reports, and support audits and policy updates.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of benefits and payroll administration experience.
- Understanding of employee benefits programs and payroll processes.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information.
- Communication, interpersonal, negotiation, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Residence in the DC, Maryland, or Virginia area.
- Ability to work on-site in Washington, DC two to three days per week.
- Certified Benefits Professional certification or similar certification is preferred.
- Nonprofit experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Administer employee benefits programs, open enrollment, and life-event changes.
- Respond to employee payroll and benefits questions.
- Process semi-monthly payroll accurately, timely, and compliantly.
- Maintain payroll records, deductions, tax withholdings, and adjustments.
- Reconcile payroll and benefits accounts and support audits and reporting.
- Manage payroll and benefits vendors, issue resolution, and tax filings.
- Ensure compliance with applicable payroll and benefits laws and regulations.
- Support onboarding and offboarding related to payroll, benefits, and HR systems.
- Maintain accurate HRIS data.
- Prepare required ACA filings, retirement-plan contributions, and benefits audits.
- Maintain payroll and benefits policies and procedures.
- Improve processes and documentation.
