About the Role
You will design and implement an on-chain financial platform that can operate under Japanese financial regulations. You will translate legal and business requirements into system requirements, data models, access controls, and token rules. You will design smart contracts, ledger reconciliation, settlement workflows, custody controls, cloud resilience, audit logging, and compliance documentation. You will also work with financial institutions and external partners to maintain architectural consistency and quality.
Requirements
- Native-level Japanese reading ability for legal documents, contracts, terms, and product specifications
- English reading and writing ability for design documentation, code reviews, and chat communication
- Experience leading the design or construction of systems operating under Japanese financial regulations
- At least 3 years of design and development experience for core or mission-critical systems in securities, banking, trust, or asset management
- Experience designing data models for accounts, balances, trades, settlement, and clearing
- Understanding of report-ready table structures, daily batch and closing processes, and accounting and tax processing
- Ability to identify and organize legal issues before consulting legal departments or external counsel
- Understanding of blockchain and the basic structures of major DeFi and permissionless protocols, or interest in the field
Responsibilities
- Interpret Japanese financial regulations and related guidelines
- Translate legal requirements into system requirements, data models, and authorization designs
- Design and implement the relationship between statutory ledgers and on-chain records
- Define rules for transfer restrictions and eligibility requirements in financial products and contracts
- Gather requirements from financial institutions and support system integrations
- Design compliant smart contracts using token standards
- Design reconciliation, discrepancy detection, and correction flows between on-chain balances and off-chain ledgers
- Design trade execution, settlement, clearing, and long-running workflows including compensating transactions
- Design custody and key-management architectures that meet non-custodial requirements
- Design and validate availability, RTO/RPO, failure testing, and disaster recovery
- Implement audit logs, separation of duties, change management, and access controls
- Create and maintain design documents, ADRs, authorization matrices, and data-model definitions
- Prepare materials for regulatory registration, inspections, system audits, and vendor management
- Collaborate with external partners including major systems integrators
- Maintain architectural consistency and quality standards

Hiring Process
