About the Role
You will design, operate, and maintain clustered computing environments that support research workloads. You will develop, optimize, and sustain scientific software, workflows, libraries, and tools; automate testing and deployment; and collaborate with researchers and technical contacts to install, port, benchmark, and tune applications. You will also support parallel, distributed, data-intensive, and accelerator-enabled workloads, contribute to CI/CD, packaging, and documentation, and align solutions with compute, storage, and networking resources.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and at least 5 years of aligned professional experience, or equivalent education and experience
- At least 3 years of UNIX/Linux systems management experience
- At least 3 years of experience with configuration management and automation tools such as Git, Jenkins, Ansible, or Puppet
- Moderate proficiency in a scripting language such as Bash or Python
- Experience with advanced troubleshooting and system administration for Linux servers
- Experience supporting large data systems
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy clearance
- Pass a pre-placement drug test and participate in an ongoing random drug testing program

- Ensure software performance, scalability, portability, reliability, and maintainability
- Use automation, testing, and software engineering practices to improve quality and reproducibility
- Install, port, optimize, benchmark, and tune scientific applications and toolsets
- Support parallel, distributed, data-intensive, and accelerator-enabled computational workflows
- Align software solutions with available compute, storage, and networking resources
- Contribute to CI/CD, software packaging, documentation, and sustainable development workflows
