About the Role
You will own the sourcing, manufacturing, testing, and delivery path for mechanical parts, assemblies, and subsystems. You will partner with mechanical engineers to review drawings and production requirements, select suppliers and manufacturing approaches, negotiate quotes and lead times, and resolve supplier delivery, quality, and schedule issues.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related engineering field
- 3+ years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, technical sourcing, supplier development, or hardware supply chain
- At least 1 year of full-time internal employee experience at a Seed, Series A, or Series B VC-backed hardware startup
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and understand GD&T, materials, tolerances, manufacturing processes, and mechanical design intent
- Experience working with suppliers on complex mechanical parts, assemblies, or subsystems from RFQ through delivery
- Ability to assess supplier technical capability across manufacturability, quality, lead time, cost, and iteration speed
- Supplier negotiation skills and ability to develop supplier relationships
- U.S. citizenship is required
- Current U.S. work authorization
Responsibilities
- Own sourcing and supplier execution for mechanical parts, assemblies, and subsystems from engineering release through delivery
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers to understand drawings, GD&T, materials, tolerances, design intent, and test requirements
- Select manufacturing and test paths using existing suppliers, new suppliers, or internal capabilities
- Find and qualify suppliers for machining, sheet metal, fabrication, additive manufacturing, special processes, assemblies, and testing
- Manage RFQs, quote evaluation, supplier selection, pricing and lead-time negotiation, and purchase execution
- Evaluate manufacturability, supplier capability, cost, lead time, and iteration speed
- Resolve supplier schedule, quality, and manufacturing issues
- Build and improve a supplier network that supports rapid engineering iteration
