About the Role
You will review mechanical and cooling designs for operability and maintainability, inspect installations during construction, and identify issues before turnover. You will witness commissioning, verify documentation and operator training, support stabilization after turnover, and feed operational lessons into future mechanical design standards.
Requirements
- 8+ years in critical-facilities mechanical operations, commissioning, or chief-engineer-track roles
- Knowledge of chilled-water plants, hydronic systems, and data-center cooling topologies
- Level 1-5 commissioning experience, including integrated systems testing
- Design-review experience focused on access, isolation, and instrumentation
- Turnover documentation experience
- Water-treatment and cleanliness-protocol experience for critical hydronic systems
Responsibilities
- Review mechanical and cooling designs for maintenance access, isolation, redundancy, instrumentation, and failure-mode consequences
- Inspect mechanical installations at key construction milestones
- Witness Level 3-5 commissioning, functional testing, failover sequences, failure scenarios, and integrated systems testing
- Document operational issues in the commissioning log and verify closure
- Verify turnover packages, O&Ms, as-builts, labels, water-treatment baselines, spares, and PM inputs
- Validate operator training
- Support post-turnover alarm tuning, setpoint refinement, and troubleshooting
- Feed operational lessons into mechanical design standards and basis-of-design decisions
