About the Role
You will lead the discovery, analysis, synthesis, and drafting of FAS's FY28+ five-year strategic plan alongside executive leadership. You will assess external and internal conditions, facilitate stakeholder input, develop strategic options and financial scenarios, co-author the plan, and support its Board presentation and internal rollout.
Requirements
- Be authorized to work in the United States for this contractor engagement
- Demonstrate relevant experience in nonprofit or policy-organization strategy, financial sustainability, operating models, or people strategy
- Provide three applicable client case studies and three client references
- Submit a proposal including an approach, embedded working model, workplan, team information, budget, and conflict disclosures
Responsibilities
- Lead the discovery workstreams, including external scanning and internal diagnostics
- Assess the political landscape, peer positioning, funder trends, and future risks and opportunities
- Conduct revenue diversification modeling, indirect cost recovery analysis, workforce capacity reviews, and operating model assessments
- Refine and co-facilitate surveys, listening sessions, and one-on-one stakeholder interviews
- Synthesize discovery findings into strategic options, revenue scenarios, capability investments, and sunset activities
- Facilitate leadership alignment sessions and share emerging themes with staff
- Ensure recommendations reflect FAS's institution-specific policy-entrepreneurship model
- Co-author the FY28+ strategic plan with executive leads
- Support the final plan presentation for Board approval
- Provide input on internal rollout and communication framing
Hiring Process
