Requirements: — Experience in AML/CTF, compliance, risk, or financial crime within traditional financial services, fintech, payments, crypto, banking, or remittance — Working knowledge of Australian AML/CTF obligations and AUSTRAC expectations — Familiarity with customer onboarding, KYC, EDD, sanctions, PEP screening, and transaction monitoring — Understanding of suspicious matter reporting, escalation handling, and recordkeeping — Ability to interpret regulation and translate and apply it into practical internal processes — Strong written communication and documentation skills — High attention to detail and sound judgement — Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where commercial growth and regulatory controls must both be supported — Experience supporting audits, external due diligence, regulatory reviews, or licence readiness is highly desirable — Experience in digital assets and/or high-risk financial products — Exposure to AFSL-related compliance frameworks, compliance plans, breach reporting, or financial services regulation — Minimum 3–5+ years’ experience in AML/CTF, compliance, financial crime, or risk within financial services, fintech, payments, banking, remittance, or digital assets. — Experience in crypto, digital assets, OTC, exchange, payments, or other high-risk transaction environments is essential — Practical experience with customer due diligence, enhanced due diligence, sanctions screening, PEP screening, transaction monitoring, and suspicious matter escalation. — Experience supporting audits, control testing, regulator requests, bank due diligence, or compliance remediation is advantageous. — Experience supporting AFSL-related compliance, governance or licence-readiness work is highly desirable.
Technical Knowledge — Strong understanding of Australian AML/CTF obligations, including AML/CTF program requirements, recordkeeping, reporting obligations, and governance responsibilities.
AUSTRAC requires reporting entities to have an AML/CTF program and appoint an AML/CTF compliance officer. — Good understanding of the regulatory risks associated with digital currency exchange services in Australia.
AUSTRAC specifically regulates digital currency exchange providers and requires registration. — Familiarity with blockchain analytics tools, crypto typologies, scam indicators, mule activity, wallet risk, source-of-funds assessment, and cross-border transaction risk. — Understanding of the governance and compliance expectations relevant to an AFS licence applicant or licensee is desirable.
ASIC requires organisational competence and compliance with licence obligations. — Relevant compliance qualifications such as CAMS, ICA, ACAMS, governance/risk/compliance certifications, or crypto compliance training are highly regarded.
Personal Attributes — High integrity, discretion, and sound judgement. — Strong analytical capability and attention to detail. — Confidence managing sensit Responsibilities: — Conduct customer onboarding reviews, including higher-risk and enhanced due diligence cases — Support ongoing customer monitoring and periodic reviews — Review transaction monitoring alerts and escalate unusual or suspicious activity — Assist with suspicious matter assessment and reporting workflows — Maintain sanctions, PEP, and adverse media screening processes — Help the MLRO develop and maintain compliance policies, procedures, and registers — Support compliance readiness for AFSL operations and broader regulatory uplift — Assist with control testing, gap analysis, remediation tracking, and evidence collection — Maintain accurate records and audit trails for key compliance activities — Work cross-functionally with operations, product, customer support, and leadership to ensure compliant execution of business activities — Help prepare responses to due diligence questionnaires, partner reviews, audits, and regulator-related information requests — Identify process improvements to make compliance more scalable and efficient as the business grows Immerse yourself in Crypto & Web3: — Master cutting-edge technologies and become an expert in the most innovative industry.
