Role Overview
We are not looking for a traditional relationship manager or institutional sales executive. We need a battle-tested trading insider—someone who comes directly from a top-tier proprietary trading firm, HFT desk, or market maker.
As the Head of Institutional Department, you will view our exchange through the lens of a sophisticated trader. You will reverse-engineer our product offerings, fee models, and infrastructure to eliminate friction for HFT/prop desks, optimize liquidity, and aggressively scale Bitget’s institutional market share.
What you'll do
- Product & Infrastructure Optimization: Drive the evolution of Bitget's institutional product suite (Derivatives, Perpetuals, Options, FIX/API interfaces, co-location, low-latency infrastructure, and custom liquidity solutions) ensuring absolute alignment with HFT demands.
- HFT-Optimized Fee Structuring: Design and implement sophisticated, data-driven fee models. This includes aggressive maker rebates (including negative fees), competitive taker structures, dynamic volume-based tiers, and capital efficiency mechanisms to maximize maker volume and platform net revenue.
- Strategic Alignment: Bridge the gap between trading reality and exchange product development. Translate complex trading friction points (latency, capital efficiency, risk limits, order book dynamics) into actionable technical specifications for our product and engineering teams.
- Institutional Growth & Ecosystem Building: Attract, onboard, and retain global top-tier quant funds, HFT firms, and market makers by providing unparalleled trading conditions and bespoke liquidity incentives.
- Market Intelligence: Monitor global market structures, competitor liquidity strategies, and evolving regulatory landscapes to ensure Bitget remains the preferred venue for institutional flow.
What you'll need
1.Hard Experience & Background
- 3+ years (5+ preferred) of hands-on experience in quantitative trading, market making, or trading strategy optimization at a top-tier HFT/Prop firm (e.g., Tower Research, Jump Trading, Citadel, Jane Street, Optiver, HRT) OR as a Market Structure/Liquidity Specialist at a major traditional exchange (e.g., Nasdaq, NYSE).
- Proven track record of directly executing HFT strategies, negotiating exchange fee models, or optimizing liquidity provision with measurable volume/efficiency gains.
- Deep comprehension of both Crypto and Traditional Finance (TradFi) market structures, preferably with cross-exchange arbitrage or crypto market-making experience.
2.Technical & Core Competencies
- Traders' Perspective: Ability to reverse-engineer exchange products, API structures, and incentive mechanisms from a practitioner’s point of view.
- Data-Driven Strategy: Exceptional analytical skills to dissect order book data, evaluate turnover velocity, and design dynamic tier structures.
- Deep Market Domain Knowledge: Profound insight into latency optimization, order book dynamics, capital efficiency, and risk management limits.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in a quantitative discipline (Finance, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, or engineering) from a top-tier global university.
3.Soft Skills & Language
- Bilingual Fluency: Professional proficiency in both English and Mandarin (written and spoken) is required to seamlessly collaborate with our global team and international institutional clients.
- Network: An established, high-quality network within the global quant and HFT community.
- Entrepreneurial Mindset: A hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced, high-execution crypto environment.
