This is a hands-on leadership role working closely with Legal, Risk, Finance, Operations, Product, Technology, and senior management. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in U.S. derivatives regulation, particularly FCM/CFTC/NFA requirements, with broader exposure to broker-dealer and digital asset regulatory frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, implement, and continuously enhance the U.S. compliance framework as the business expands across FCM, DCM/DCO, broker-dealer, and digital asset activities.
- Serve as a key compliance subject matter expert on CFTC, NFA, FINRA, state MTL, and applicable exchange rules, translating regulatory requirements into practical business and operational controls.
- Advise management and business teams on new products, trading activities, market structure, customer funding, clearing arrangements, and regulatory developments.
- Oversee compliance requirements relating to customer onboarding, KYC/CIP and BSA/AML, sanctions screening, transaction monitoring, customer communications, promotional activities, books and records, and regulatory reporting.
- Provide compliance oversight of futures and derivatives activities, including customer fund segregation, margin, position limits, risk management, order handling, trade practices, and market conduct.
- Develop and oversee trading compliance and surveillance controls covering electronic trading, order routing, market access, position monitoring, and potentially manipulative or disruptive trading activity.
- Partner with Finance, Treasury, Risk, and Operations on regulatory capital, customer asset protection, segregation, liquidity, clearing, and other financial regulatory requirements.
- Work closely with Product and Technology to incorporate compliance requirements into trading platforms, customer workflows, risk controls, surveillance systems, and new product launches.
- Lead and coordinate regulatory examinations, inquiries, filings, and other interactions with NFA, FINRA, state regulators, and applicable exchanges.
- Maintain and enhance compliance policies, supervisory procedures, risk assessments, monitoring and testing programs, employee training, and regulatory documentation.
- Oversee compliance functions performed by affiliates and third-party service providers, ensuring appropriate due diligence, controls, escalation procedures, and ongoing oversight.
- Monitor regulatory and market structure developments and proactively assess their impact on Bitget’s U.S. business.
- Promote a strong compliance culture while maintaining a practical, business-oriented approach to regulatory risk and supporting responsible business growth.
What you'll need
- 10+ years of relevant compliance experience within regulated financial services, preferably at an FCM, broker-dealer, derivatives exchange, clearing firm, digital asset firm, or financial regulator.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of CFTC and NFA requirements, particularly those applicable to FCMs and futures/derivatives activities.
- Experience with one or more additional regulatory frameworks, including broker-dealer/FINRA/SEC, DCM/exchange compliance, or digital asset/MTL regulation, strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of trading and market structure, including electronic trading, order routing, margin and risk controls, clearing and settlement, trade surveillance, and customer asset protection.
- Experience working directly with regulators and managing regulatory examinations, inquiries, filings, and remediation matters.
- Demonstrated ability to build or enhance compliance programs, policies, controls, and operational processes in a growing business.
- Experience supporting or leading new U.S. regulatory license or registration applications, particularly FCM, DCM/DCO, broker-dealer, or state MTL applications, is a strong plus.
